WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE?
Aromatherapy massage is a gentle therapeutic massage that combines the benefits of massage therapy with the use of essential oils. During an aromatherapy massage, specific essential oils are expertly selected based on their properties and the client’s needs. These oils are then blended with nourishing carrier oils and applied to the skin through gentle massage techniques.
Aromatherapy massage can help with stress relief, relaxation, depression, aches and pains, skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, hormonal imbalances, menopause, fertility, circulatory issues, insomnia, immune system as well as general well-being.
WHAT IS DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE?
Deep Tissue Massage is renowned for its ability to release deep-seated tension and tightness within muscles and connective tissues (fascia) using slow, firm pressure and deep strokes. It is a highly effective solution for alleviating muscular discomfort and enhancing mobility. It is beneficial for relieving chronic pain, improving blood pressure, breaking up scar tissue, improving flexibility and range of motion, and stress relief. Please note that a Deep Tissue massage is not the same as just having firm pressure during a Swedish or Aromatherapy massage. Please get in touch if you're not sure which type of massage would suit you best.
Choose how much time you would like (30 minutes or 60 minutes), all deep tissue massages will be tailored to target the areas that require the most attention.
WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is an ancient healing practice performed via acupressure massage on reflex points on the feet that correspond to our body systems. By treating the feet with Reflexology we treat the whole body, helping and encouraging it to rebalance itself.

Reflexology can be helpful in treating stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression, headaches and migraines, body pain, fertility and promoting general wellbeing.

Reflexology is ideal for those who want to experience a deep level of relaxation, peace and calm like they have never felt before, as their whole body is rebalanced and revitalised.
WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic liquids extracted from plants. They contain natural chemical compounds with therapeutic benefits that not only smell amazing but can affect and benefit our body systems when applied to the skin or inhaled.
Due to their high concentration, in aromatherapy, essential oils are diluted in unscented carrier oils before being applied to the skin during massage treatments.
Mis-use of essential oils can have detrimental effects on your health.
Essential oils must never be ingested in any way.
Always consult a qualified aromatherapist before applying or using essential oils at home.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY APPOINTMENT?
When you arrive for your appointment, I will welcome you into the treatment cabin and then re-confirm the treatment, what you can expect and agree the suggested oil blend and any other products being used where necessary. I will then give you some privacy for you to remove any necessary clothing and get onto the massage couch, covering yourself with the prepared sheets and blankets. Once you are on the couch, covered and comfortable, I will come in and start the treatment.
Occasionally during a massage treatment I will need to gently lift or move your arm or leg briefly to aid the massage. I may also need you to turn over on the couch to continue the massage onto the front or back. Please be assured that your modesty will be protected at all times.
Once the treatment is over, I will leave you for a few moments to recover and ‘come to’ again! I will give you some water and leave you to get dressed in private.
HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Hopefully you will feel relaxed and revived! You should feel energised and invigorated, or simply chilled and soothed. You should notice tightness and tension is reduced, and depending on your treatment that aches and pains improved.
You may also notice that your sleep patterns improve.
Your body will start detoxifying after the treatment, which can cause some people to experience mild cold symptoms, headaches and/or fatigue for a maximum of 24 hours afterwards.
Clients who have had Deep Tissue treatments may feel a little bruised the following day.
It is important that you drink plenty of water after the treatment to allow your body to flush out the toxins, and where possible avoid vigorous activity, eat healthy light meals, avoid caffeine and alcohol for 6-12 hours.
Essential oils can also make your skin more sensitive to UV and sunlight so it is a good idea to avoid sunbeds or sunbathing for 6-12 hours after application of the oils.
Specific safety data relating to oils used will be advised at the time of your consultation or treatment.
I FEEL SELF-CONSCIOUS….WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The thought of a relaxing massage or treatment is tempting, we know that we need it and will feel better for it but we never book it because we feel vulnerable and self-conscious, whether that be for insecurities related to weight, body hair, scars, blemishes or just general anxiety of new situations. But it’s so worth it, therapeutic massage can help with so many more things than just soothing aches and pains, it can relieve feelings of stress and anxiety, improve sleep patterns, balance hormonal issues as well as boosting our confidence and general well-being. It can really help you to enjoy life that little bit more!
Believe it or not massage therapists generally don’t notice the things on your body that you feel insecure about, and we certainly don’t judge you for it. Hairy backs, stretch marks, cellulite, moles, scars, love handles, body size…these things really don’t worry us – we are focused on doing the very best we can to ensure your comfort and enjoyment during the treatment.
Please be assured that your modesty will be preserved throughout your appointment, and you will be completely covered up during the massage except for the area being worked on.
So if you do have any reservations or feel nervous, please drop me a message or give me a call. I am more than happy to have a free no pressure chat over the phone or in person before you even book a treatment. Come and practice getting on the massage couch if things like that fill you with dread! I will do my absolute best to make you feel at ease and alleviate any worries you may have. I look forward to talking to you.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Depending on which treatment you have, you are likely to have to remove some of your clothing so make sure whatever you wear is comfortable and easy to take off and put back on. For safety and hygiene reasons, knickers and pants should be kept on during the treatment.
Please be aware that you may have a little bit of residue from the massage oils on your skin that may transfer to your clothes once you put them back on after the treatment.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TREATMENT?
Please make sure you have showered or bathed ahead of your treatment. Not only is this critical for health and hygiene, but also allows any products and oils used during the treatment to be absorbed and work to their fullest.

Try to eat light meals ahead of your appointment and avoid alcohol.
WILL THE TREATMENT HURT?
Aromatherapy massage is gentle and comforting and the pressure can be adjusted to your preference and should not hurt or cause any discomfort. The massage includes Swedish style effleurage, petrissage, lymphatic drainage, and acupressure techniques to rejuvenate and encourage new blood flow to your muscles and body systems to improve your physical and mental health and wellbeing from a holistic perspective.

Deep tissue technique uses slower and deeper strokes to get beyond the top level fascia to stretch and lengthen muscles and release trigger points (knots) and muscle tension. It is a massage in which the primary goal is less about general relaxation and more about promoting change in the actual structure of the body. It can cause some discomfort during treatment but we will discuss levels to ensure the treatment is within your limits. You may feel a little bruised in the day or two following the treatment as we have worked deep into the tissue and muscles.

Physical restrictions should be discussed before any treatment begins so that the massage can be adapted to avoid physical discomfort, but if you do feel any pain during treatment, please let me know immediately.
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS TO HAVING A TREATMENT?
There may be some medical conditions that can affect treatment, but we can discuss these during the consultation and agree an approach that works around these where necessary.

If you have a fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, a contagious/infectious disease or are under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol the treatment will not be able to take place, and cancellation charges may apply.
My massage couch has a weight limit of 35 stone.
